![]() ![]() It's not cheap ($149) and you need the $50 Thunderbolt cable from Apple, and an ExpressCard/34 CF reader, but it works really, really well and it's here NOW. It also works with the eSATA ExpressCard/34 I had for fast access to external disks. Multi-Card Reader Supports All SD Card Types The 6-slot Thunderbolt 3 card reader supports all SD cards: SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and SDXC (Secure Digital Extended Capacity). (However, if you don't already have an ExpressCard Reader, I'd consider getting a Sonnet one to guarantee compatibility). But, on a whim, I tried installing the driver for the Sonnet Pro Dual CompactFlash Adapter ExpressCard/34 and it worked. It didn't work at first as the driver from Lexar isn't thunderbolt-enabled. The Lexar CF reader is not a Sonnet-supported card. When I plugged in my Lexar Pro ExpressCard CompactFlash Reader I was able to get 42MB/s read speeds off my 300x CF card - the theoretical limit for the card (and the same speed as when the reader was plugged directly into the ExpressCard slot of my Macbook Pro.) I was getting read speeds of 8MB/s from my Lexar Firewire 400 reader - so 5x faster. I received my Echo ExpressCard/34 Thunderbolt Adapter from Sonnet today.
